Macadamia Meadows Farm Bed & Breakfast, Big Island Of Hawaii, The Volcano Island

Macadamia Meadows Bed and Breakfast and farm

Macadamia Meadows Farm Bed and Breakfast is for those seeking the "real" Hawaii. Our spacious country home, surrounded by our Macadamia Nut orchard, is situated on eight plus acres in the historic Kau District, on the Big Island of Hawaii. Our area boasts two unique beaches. Nearby are Papakolea [Green Sand beach]and Punalu'u [a Black Sand beach],and we're just around the corner from South Point [southern most point in the U.S.A. and believed landing sight of the first Polynesians.]  Our ideally central location makes us a great home base for easy driving times to island sites. We're 45 minutes from Hawaii Volcano National Park and the Place of Refuge. For an update on what's happening on our farm estate check out our new BLOG.

Charlênè [far right] and Cortney [driving] are bringing Mac nuts in from the orchard, on the way to the processor. The bag Charlênè is carrying weights about 85 lbs. A highlight of their stay for many guests are the complimentary, educational walking tours Charlênè offers of the orchard.

  Private tennis court

Tennis court

We are proud to be a working farm and  to have been farming pesticide free for almost 12 years now, and that truely
is the "feel" of our property. However, if you would enjoy a natural farm setting and like to play a little tennis as well,
we do have a great tennis court [with a couple of basketball hoops].

If star gazing is more your style, a favorite spot for guests is the bench [pictured above] on our tennis court. Without light pollution
the night sky comes alive

This stunning photo  of the night sky over our farm was taken by Tunç Tezel. We just received this Email from him and we immediately wrote back and requested his permission to display his photo of the night sky over our farm on our website. He graciously consented.
"Hello,
This is Tunc Tezel from Turkey. You might remember me, as I had stayed in your beautiful B&B in August 2007--------
I had toured all the Big Island and taken many pictures in Volcanoes National Park, Punaluu, Mauna Kea and also in Macadamia Meadows. One picture I had taken from Macadamia Meadows has recently appeared in the website of a joint project I am participating, namely TWAN, The World At Night
http://www.twanight.org/newTWAN/photos.asp?ID=3002211
TWAN can be described as a program to create and exhibit a collection of stunning photographs and time-lapse videos of the world’s most beautiful and historic sites against a nighttime backdrop of stars, planets and celestial events: http://www.twanight.org
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the International Astronomical Union (IAU) have designated TWAN as a Special Project of the International Year of Astronomy 2009.
